A very unusual solid fourteen carat yellow gold automatic watch by Benrus. The case is very handsome, with a thoughtfully designed shape. The lugs have strong bezels including a novel bezel on the inside of the lug. The crown is sunk into the side of the case to give it a slimmer profile. It is also a screw back case, not a snap back case meaning a higher level of quality, along with a better water proofing. The dial is a very handsome glossy silver with recessed arrow head style gold markers, with a strong Arabic 12 at the top. The original hands are radium filled with the original luminous material, and are also an unusual shape, and a center set sweep seconds hand.
The watch is powered by a 25 jewel automatic caliber 255 movement that is in excellent condition and keeping good time. The overall look of the watch is excellent in unpolished condition. The watch is fully signed on case, dial and movement, with the dial also signed Swiss at the customary 6 o'clock position. All being original to the watch and not re-finished. This watch is unusual for Benrus as they did not manufacture many solid gold watches, and are best know for their military watches. This refined example is quite a departure from that.
