This is a very rare and special Cartier Tank Rectangular Cintrée.
Often referred to as the Alongée, we have been lucky enough to see some internal Cartier documents that correctly identify this watch as a Tank Rectangular Cintrée. One of the most intriguing aspects of this model’s history is its association with the legendary Steve McQueen, as it was his timepiece of choice in the iconic film "The Thomas Crown Affair."
We have found a real beauty that dates to the end of the 1960s that we know you’ll all love!
This Cartier New York Tank Rectangular Cintrée has all the hallmarks of the brand, including white dial with black Roman numerals and railroad track. The watch has blued hands and a blue cabochon-topped winding crown. The gold-plated case is in remarkable condition. The dial is in superb condition and is signed SWISS, which refers to the manual wind calibre 2412 ETA movement that the watch houses, that has been fully serviced by our watchmaker.
This is a very rare and important Cartier that is both rare and highly desirable ! Please reach out if we can help you in any way with more information.
